AI Wind Turbine Inspection – Redefining Asset Intelligence
At the Flat Rocks Wind Farm, located approximately 30 km south-west of Kojonup, WA, APD Global, on behalf of Potentia Energy, deployed its autonomous, AI-powered drone inspection system – a breakthrough in turbine asset management and site intelligence.
Unlike traditional methods that rely on manual piloting or ground based photography, our drone system performs fully automated inspections without human intervention. Powered by exclusive detection algorithms, field-proven across numerous projects in Italy, the system autonomously scans turbine blades, towers and electrical components – detecting, classifying and reporting on asset condition in real time.
This next-generation platform not only delivers exceptional data consistency – maintaining precise flight paths, levels and stand-off distances as if running on rails – but also ensures maximum safety, completely removing the need for personnel to work at heights or in hazardous environments. The result is uniform, repeatable and verifiable asset intelligence that exceeds the precision achievable through manual inspection.
Beyond turbine assessments, the system can be configured to continuously monitor the entire site, identifying changes in terrain, vegetation, or infrastructure and enhancing security and situational awareness through persistent autonomous operation.
In short, APD Global’s autonomous inspection solution delivers a level of consistency, safety and operational insight unmatched by any manual or semi-automated technique – transforming how wind farms are maintained, optimised and protected.
