WA-First 4G Signaling System
Successful delivery of 11 telecom racks in the cross passage tunnel for the Forrestfield- Airport Link rail line. A result of months of meticulous planning, with the pre-dressing of all racks at our warehouse facility.
APD faced numerous design challenges during the delivery process, however, working closely with Nokia and PTA, ensured the agreed delivery deadline was met.
A special train was assigned from Optus Stadium, to run at 1:50am, stopping in the tunnels to deliver the rack infrastructure.
APD’s leadership along with Nokia’s executive team, explored the tech behind deploying 80+ LTE/4.9G radio sites across railway tracks and tunnels. Highlighting the scale and significance of what APD Global will be delivering – WA’s firstever 4G signalling system for the Public Transport Authority (PTA).
This mega project, spanning multiple years, is a game-changer for Perth’s rail network and sits under the portfolio of Deputy Premier Rita Saffioti. This undertaking, is setting new benchmarks for rail connectivity, safety and performance in Australia. During the Nokia’s data facility visit, APD examined the core networks, observed the real-time call environment and reviewed the cabinet design and installation that will host the critical equipment. APD also engaged with Nokia’s experts to gain a deeper understanding of the end-to-end architecture, ensuring we are well-equipped to deliver the required outcomes.
