CLIENT: ACEREZ, EnergyCo
Australia’s First REZ
APD Global delivered Tender Design services for Australia’s first Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), a landmark project unlocking 4.5GW of clean energy.
APD’S project scope spanned across the following areas:
Power System Studies:
Development of network model, NEM studies, centralised system strength solution and technical advisory services for ACEREZ, EnergyCo, AEMO and bid committee stakeholders.
Transmission line & Substation Design:
Over 200km of 500kV and 330kV transmission lines, and multiple high-voltage substation yards, including primary, civil/structural, protection, control, automation and telecom systems.
Strategic REZ infrastructure Planning:
Analysis of EnergyCo’s evolving datasets to develop robust, future-ready solutions for the integration of the REZ infrastructure into the NSW transmission network. APD Global’s expert team delivered innovative, costeffective designs that helped ACEREZ secure the winning Network Operator bid. The project is progressing with a budget of approximately $5.5 billion, marking a major milestone in Australia’s energy transition.
NEW ENGLAND RENEWABLE ENERGY ZONE NETWORK MODELLING
APD Global was engaged to deliver power system network modelling for the New England Renewable Energy Zone (NE REZ), the largest REZ in NSW, set to unlock up to 8GW of network capacity.
Our work involved preparing network models to reflect the proposed REZ Network Infrastructure, including known transmission & non-network upgrades within the transmission planning horizon. The objective of this high impact engagement was to conduct an iterative
technical analysis & identify potential design improvements to enhance network performance & support strategic network planning.
With deep expertise in power systems & network planning, APD Global is proud to help drive one of Australia’s most ambitious energy transition projects.
