APD Global has partnered with Channel 7 to bring APD Global Drone Cam to AFL broadcasts for the remaining 2026 season. Coverage includes West Coast Eagles home matches and Fremantle Dockers home matches, including the Western Derby.
This is a broadcast partnership with Channel 7. It is separate from APD Global’s Premier Partner relationship with the West Coast Eagles, and it is not a Fremantle club partnership.
The broadcast drone is not a sideline. The same drone bench flies on infrastructure: autonomous, AI-powered inspection of wind turbines and primary plant, line-of-sight surveys for communications corridors, and condition monitoring of critical assets. At Flat Rocks Wind Farm, south-west of Kojonup, the autonomous inspection system was deployed on behalf of Potentia Energy - detecting, classifying and reporting on asset condition in real time. Flying live sport on national television draws on the same bench and the same discipline.
Robotics goes to match day in other ways too. Astro, the robotic dog, and Dazza, the rover, represent APD Global at West Coast Eagles home games - and in August 2026 Astro delivered the match ball onto the field at Mineral Resources Park for a West Coast Eagles AFLW fixture.
For the capability behind the camera - drones, rovers and quadruped robots - see robotics, drones and asset inspection.
