Unlike traditional methods that rely on manual piloting or ground-based photography, the system performs fully automated inspections without human intervention. Powered by exclusive detection algorithms, field-proven across numerous projects in Italy, it autonomously scans turbine blades, towers and electrical components - detecting, classifying and reporting on asset condition in real time.
The platform holds precise flight paths, levels and stand-off distances as if running on rails - with no personnel working at heights or in hazardous environments. Beyond turbine assessments, it can be configured to continuously monitor the entire site, identifying changes in terrain, vegetation or infrastructure. Line-of-sight drone survey
Every reliable connection starts long before the first signal is transmitted. Line-of-sight (LOS) assessments are a critical step in designing dependable wireless communication networks - ensuring the path between sites is clear, verified and ready to perform.
APD Global uses autonomous drone survey to walk the corridor between communications sites - confirming the path is clear, recording the terrain, and giving the design bench a verified line of sight. Combining technical expertise with advanced analysis helps clients reduce uncertainty, optimise network performance and make informed decisions before construction begins. The same high-tech bench that inspects plant and towers also proves the radio path.
Sports broadcast drone
The same drone bench also flies on national television. APD Global has partnered with Channel 7 to bring APD Global Drone Cam to AFL broadcasts for the remaining 2026 season - West Coast Eagles home matches and Fremantle Dockers home matches, including the Western Derby.
This is a broadcast partnership with Channel 7. It is separate from APD Global's Premier Partner relationship with the West Coast Eagles, and it is not a Fremantle club partnership.
Astro - the AI-powered robo-dog
Astro, the robotic dog, is APD Global's inspection robot - AI-powered, and designed to support field teams by accessing high-risk environments where it's not feasible or safe to send people.
Alongside Dazza, the rover, Astro also fronts APD Global in public - a regular on game day at Mineral Resources Park, delivering the match ball at West Coast Eagles AFLW fixtures under the Eagles and Glory partnerships.
