Transpower manages New Zealand's national grid - the high-voltage backbone that carries electricity from generation to every corner of the country. Appointment to the Lines Full Design Panel means APD is an accredited design partner for transmission infrastructure on that network.
The appointment followed APD Global’s establishment of its New Zealand operation and successful engagement on early-stage work aligned with Whakamana i Te Mauri Hiko - the national programme to double New Zealand's renewable electricity generation and electrify transport and industry.
The same in-house capability that has delivered 330 kV and 500 kV transmission design in Australia - towers, foundations, stringing systems, conductor selection, undercrossing protection - is now available directly to Transpower and its contractors.
