CopperString 2032 is the extra-high-voltage transmission system intended to connect the North-West Power System near Cloncurry and Mount Isa to the Powerlink network and the National Electricity Market at Woodstock. The line is planned at 500 kV, 330 kV and 220 kV.
APD Global is undertaking the tower design for two 500 kV families on that project: the suspension tower D5S2BI and the light tension tower D5T15BI. The same transmission bench that designs HumeLink alpine strain towers and Western Power 330 kV packages.
The line is also intended to support development of the Hughenden wind resource and solar resources in the North Queensland Clean Energy Hub. APD Global’s published scope on this job is the tower design - not the constructor award, and not the full line package.
