Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone.

Tender design for EnergyCo’s first large-scale Renewable Energy Zone in New South Wales - power system studies, 500 kV and 330 kV transmission, and the substations that unlock 3 GW of generation.

CustomerACEREZ - Acciona, Cobra and Endeavour Energy
LocationNew South Wales
ScopeTender design - studies, 500 kV and 330 kV lines, 500 kV and 330 kV substations
ScaleMore than 200 km of 500 kV and 330 kV line. Multiple 500 kV and 330 kV yards.

Central West Orana is the first of EnergyCo’s large-scale Renewable Energy Zones in New South Wales. APD Global was engaged by ACEREZ to perform the tender design - a technical solution capable of unlocking 3 GW of renewable generation.

The power system studies covered multiple generation sources, battery storage, reactive plant and synchronous condensers. The transmission design covered more than 200 km of 500 kV and 330 kV line. The substation design covered multiple 500 kV and 330 kV yards.

ACEREZ was awarded the project on that tender. The expected EPC budget was approximately $3.5 billion.

What APD Global delivered

  • Power system studies for the region
